From the NY Daily News – Chrysler is toughening up the appearance, and pumping up the volume, of its range-topping 300S luxury sedan by offering new colors, sleek new trim, and a studio quality stereo.
Chrysler is ramping up the style and sound system of the new 300S sedan. As the brand’s top luxury car, Chrysler has been busy keeping the 300S updated with new engines, transmissions, and a revamped interior.
For the 2014 model year, the changes are focused on giving the tough-looking Chrysler some extra visual muscle, along with a serious boost to the car’s stereo. The 2014 Chrysler 300S has a monochromatic style that is accentuated by body-color door handles and front fascia inserts.
The front grille is finished in black chrome trim, while new gloss black trim is used to on the side window surrounds, along with the headlights and tail-lamp bezels. A gloss black roof treatment is optional, as is a new 20-inch alloy wheel design.
Inside, 300S buyers can opt for Ambassador Blue leather seating with silver accent stitching. Audiophiles will love the standard fitment of a Dr. Dre stereo system, which comes with 10-speakers and a 12-channel amplifier.
The use of natural gas to power vehicles could become widespread, thanks to a new storage tank developed by Chrysler. Automotive News reported that the new tank will free automakers from the need to use large cylinders to store natural gas.
Natural gas for vehicles had use to have to be stored in special cylinders, similar to the ones on barbecue grills. The new tanks use a shape similar to the human lung to store in several different compartments.
Chrysler demonstrated a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck equipped with the technology. The ram has a 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 capable of burning both natural gas and gasoline. It also has a range of up to 255 miles on a tank of natural gas.
